Breaking New Ground: Prof. Richard Kwasi Bannor Becomes Ghana’s First Professor of Agribusiness Management

Prof. Richard Kwasi Bannor is Ghana’s first Professor of Agribusiness Management and an internationally recognised scholar in agribusiness strategy, food marketing, and agricultural value chains. 

He has published extensively in leading international journals (https://orcid.org/)holds multiple international patents related to agricultural technology, and contributes to global research collaborations across Europe, Asia, and Africa. 

Beyond scholarship, Prof. Bannor has played a key role in building academic institutions—developing new postgraduate programmes, mentoring young academics, securing research funding, and strengthening university–industry partnerships. His work focuses on transforming agriculture into a competitive, innovative-driven sector by connecting farmers, markets, technology, and policy. With extensive leadership experience in university governance, research management, and agribusiness development, he is widely regarded as a strategic thinker capable of shaping the future of agricultural education and innovation in Ghana.
