Agribusiness Excellence: Alberta Obeng Leads UENR to Victory at 8th AG-STUD Bootcamp
The Agrihouse Foundation in Accra brought together over 130 students nationwide for an intensive six-day program under the theme “Our Voices Matter: We Hold the Agrifood Future,” where participants engaged in mentorship sessions, business pitch contests, field trips, and hands-on training designed to prepare them for leadership roles in the agricultural value chain.
Among the key highlights was the Input Dealer Business Deal Pitch, where Alberta Obeng demonstrated exceptional skill in the competition, outperforming seven contestants through her innovative and sustainable business plan, earning support to establish an agribusiness input shop in her community, helping local farmers access essential resources. This victory also marks the second consecutive year that a student from UENR's Department of Agribusiness Management and Consumer Studies has claimed the top spot in this competitive category, reinforcing the university’s reputation for shaping future agribusiness leaders.
Beyond the competition, participants explored various aspects of the agribusiness sector through visits to media houses, fertilizer companies, and farms. They engaged with organizations such as JoyNews, Rainbow Agrosciences, ADB, Yara Ghana, and more. Additionally, a key highlight was the strategic session held with Dr. Peter Otokunor, Director of the Presidential Initiative on Agriculture and Agribusiness, at the Office of the President Annex.
The bootcamp was made possible with the backing of sponsors, including FILMA, ADDFRA, Portal PB Trade, KIVO, Ahodwo Farms, Labianca Ltd., and AgriWatchGH News.
Congratulations on your incredible success! We're so proud of you
